At the workshop you’ll learn about pests and make a pest tracking tunnel to take home.
Tracking tunnels are easy to make Just like a DOC ranger in the bush you’ll be able to record what is living in your own backyard with your tracking tunnel.
Pests like tunnels They scamper in to get the bait and leave their footprints. Rangers use these footprints to work out what animals are there, where they feed and what traps to set to catch the pests.
After the workshop put the tracking tunnel out in your back yard. Try a few different spots at different times or change the food to see what is popular. Be as sneaky as a stoat! You can even disguise your tunnel in the roots of a tree or even cover it with sticks.
This workshop is only $10 per child with all materials supplied. (Reserve entry is not included). *Parent/guardian supervision required.
