COVID-19 Information

Here you’ll find everything you need to know about visiting Ngā Manu Nature Reserve under the new COVID-19 Protection Framework (Traffic Light System). These entry requirements will apply from Wednesday 15th December 2021 which coincides with the Auckland borders opening to all travellers.

Ngā Manu Nature Reserve has decided to be a Covid-19 mandated site which means that from 15 December 2021 visitors to the Reserve over the age of 12 years and 3 months will need to present their My Vaccine Pass to our Visitor Services team to gain entry to the Reserve. Children under the age of 12 accompanied by a vaccinated adult do not need to have a My Vaccine Pass.

The My Vaccine Pass is issued by the Ministry of Health. Click here for further information on how to obtain the pass

Visitors who have a medical condition that prevent them from being vaccinated must provide written evidence from a registered medical practitioner to gain entry.

Ngā Manu is taking this approach to minimise the risk of COVID-19 spreading in the Reserve during our peak visitation period over the summer months.

All staff and volunteers interacting with visitors including school groups are vaccinated.

Safety provisions for visitors which apply now and will continue are:

  • Your visit is to be recorded either by using the NZ COVID Tracer app or by completing our entry register.
  • Masks must be worn at all times in enclosed spaces including our Visitor Centre, Nocturnal House and bathrooms.
  • Entry to our Visitor Centre will be limited to 10 people at a time.
  • One meter social distancing must be adhered to at all times.
  • Aviaries will operate in the system of one bubble in at a time.

And remember to observe signs, be patient and assist our team to do the right thing.

Ngā mihi nui.

If you have an existing booking, voucher purchase or Friends of Ngā Manu membership which you are no longer able to use due to Ngā Manu becoming a Covid-19 mandated site, please email hello@ngamanu.org.nz with your contact details so we can give you a call to talk through your options.

We value your continued support and we will look forward to seeing you over summer.

Entry requirements will be reviewed from time to time to ensure that they are aligned with the NZ COVID-19 Protection Framework (Traffic Light) which comes into effect on 3 December 2021.
